Collection: Black Hoops

This is my collection of handcrafted black sterling silver hoop earrings, made one pair at a time in my Pacific Northwest studio. Each hoop is forged from solid 925 sterling silver and oxidized to a deep charcoal black matte finish, highlighting the hammered texture and subtle surface variations. The earrings are given a natural bath of hot sulfur, same as a hot springs, to super tarnish them. This is the way silver looks when it is found in an archaeological dig or is just left on a shelf in the open air and never touched. They are essentially super tarnished and then given a light coating of cacao butter.

The care of these hoops consists of just not rubbing them with our hands too much and taking them off when bathing and swimming since body products, salt and chorine have effects on metals. The black can be redone with another sulfur bath.

With over 30 years of metalsmithing experience and a BFA in Metal Design from the University of Washington, I focus on intentional design, quality materials, and sustainable studio practices to create jewelry that is heirloom quality, repairable and recyclable. These black silver hoops are for anyone who values artisan craftsmanship, timeless style, and jewelry built to last.
